Washington Attended Hit and Run

When you are involved in an accident, you have an obligation to provide another driver with your contact information and insurance information. If you leave the scene of an accident without providing this information, you could be charged with the gross misdemeanor of attended hit and run.

A charge of attended hit and run carries a mandatory license suspension and possible jail time.

Washington Unattended Hit and Run

If you hit an unattended car or other personal property, you are under an obligation to identify yourself and leave contact information in a conspicuous place (e.g., a car windshield). If you fail to do this and leave the scene of the accident, you can be charged with unattended hit and run, a misdemeanor.

A charge of unattended hit and run does not have a mandatory license suspension, but can include up to 90 days in jail.
